Do you think non verbal communication is an effective way of communication and it reflects the cultural value

- Oh, completely! Most of our communication is non verbal. I can show you I'm bored with what you're saying by checking my watch, looking away, rolling my eyes, turning away. I can show you I'm interested by leaning forward, widening my eyes, nodding. I could go on and on. We get a lot of meaning out of people's gestures and actions, whether we realize it or not. These nonverbal cues vary from culture to culture. For instance, I read that in certain cultures the thumbs up sign is vulgar, where in the U.S. it's a positive sign. So before I travel I try to look up common hand signs and gestures in that country so I don't misread something or do something impolite.
