Rabbit Body Language and Behaviour?
I love my rabbit, her name is Hailey. I have had her for about four months i know her and she knows me very well. The only thing i was wondering is........... what does she mean when she does movements or gestures? things such as.. - when her ears go back -thumping -grunting - ears do forward -grinding her teeth - rolling -jumping - running REALLY fast - circling around your feet - sniffing you What do all of these things mean? help me so i can learn more about my rabbit and what she means when she does these thing so i can be a better "mommy" THANK YOU!! :D the grinding the teeth thing -- i heard that if they do that it means they are content(like a cats purring) or they are in pain -- i work at a vet clinic and i bring my bunny in every day that i go (1/2 a week) and she is perfect good health

- When they thump, they are warning other bunnies of danger (even if they are alone) or they are just in a bad mood. When they grunt, they are either "complaining" or just kind of talking. Movement of the ears usually just means they are catching random sounds and trying to listen. Rolling, jumping, and running is just how they have fun. My bunnies almost look like they are dancing when they are in a good mood. If they run really fast, then something or somebody is chasing them, or they think so anyway. I read that circling around your feet is a kind of "courtship" ritual. Grinding of the teeth can mean the bunny is in pain. I had to look that one up. I have never heard my bunnies doing that. Does your bunny do that often?
- Hi, Try the following links. I find it very helpful and educating. http://www.fuzzy-rabbit.com/behaviourfaq.htm http://www.fuzzy-rabbit.com/ http://www.clickerbunny.com/rabbit%20behavior.htm If you know their language, you knows a lot about your bunny's health, moods and what he favours and what not.
