How can an understanding of non verbal communication be useful in daily life?

2. Discipline and thought control usually keeps distraction and attraction away from youself. At a job or at home with other family members who need to face themselves more can be disturbing if the self is turned on and not examined. Non verbal communication says you are not interfering or intruding in space that is presently occupied . You can continue a task or duty or read or relax with non verbal communication.
3. there are a multitude of ways. You can tell what a person means regardless of what words they say. You can manipulate others using it, Studies state that as much as 90% of our communication that goes on in person is through body language (aka kinesics). However, a more typical amount os probably around 50% - but still that is a lot. Examples - a girl is interested in a boy. As they talk she notices that he mirrors her stance and use of hands arms, etc. This should tell her that he is interested in her as well. An employee suspected of stealing is asked about it and as he responds he picks lint from his pants leg and shifts position and rubs his nose - all together these suggests he is lying.
4. People who don't need every thought and feeling spelled out for them make life easier for themselves and others. At work, for example, the supervisor will be more willing to discuss your salary or a problem you're having, if you time the discussion carefully. If he stomps his way into his office, slams the door, or avoids social actions such as smiling or eye contact, those are non-verbal ways of saying he doesn't want to speak or be spoken to.
5. Non verbal communication is very important, because each individual continues to communicate from the day he is born and even after he is dead. Of course it can be very unreliable if it is not reinforced by verbal communication. A woman walking down the street with a wedding band on her finger is communicating that she is married. Of course this might not be the case since she might have just chosen to wear a wedding band. If we wanted to find out whether she is in fact married we would need to ask her, and then she could lie, by saying yes, when she is not. A very interesting subject.
