What does this body language tell u?
I'd like to learn more about body language. What does it mean when a person keeps puttin their hands in their pockets, or behind their backs.

- they are nervous
- either being nervous or lying
- I once saw on a TV show that it means you have something to hide. Or that you're lying.
- hiding something... if they are sitting with arms crossed, they are defensive... if they are standing slightly turned away, they want to get away; if they stand directly facing you, they are interested... if they lean towards you or touch you on the arm, they are very interested.... in a job interview, always sit with arms resting and relaxed on armrests... it means you're open and honest...
- Hands in the pockets show disinterest, unless his thumbs or finger are hanging out. Thumbs shows that he thinks he's cool, and the fingers are trying to bring attention to that area. Behind the back could show confidence (It leaves his chest open for attack) or restraint. Is he griping his wrist/arm or just holding his hands together? If he is griping then this shows restraint. The higher up the arm he holds the more restraint he is showing. If he is just holding his hands together, then this just shows confidence.
- It depends on the person. I don't believe in all the stuff others posted like, if they cross their arms they are defensive, or if the person puts his hands behind his back hes hiding something, etc. I do all that in any conversation, even with friends. Its more of a habit for me. I think its comfortable to put my hands in my pocket, but then it reminds me of cowboys, and country music, which I hate, so I cross my arms and lock them so they don't hang. Sometimes I put my hands behind my back and hold my forearms, just because its more comfortable then other positions. While the posture means something, it doesn't mean as much as how they speak, how they say words, how they move their face, eyes especially. If you suspect something, like if its a new thing someone you know started, then maybe theres something behind it. If its someone you just met, maybe it is nervousness. Each person is different, and I for one love crossing my arms or putting them behind my back, its really comfortable.
