Learn Body Language

Crossing your arms and body language learned from your parents??

Does one cross his/her arms based on your parents? Are there guidelines out there I haven't heard of. For example; As a male, does one normally cross his arms opposite from his mother??

  1. crossing your arms is a way of closing yourself off from someone i am an insurance adjuster i talk to people all the time and crossing of the arms is one way that we can tell if they are hiding something or dont want to talk about something. i do not think it is releated to hereditary just human manerism
  2. Is suppose to be different in men or women, and cultural places have for sure a big role on that too. from parents we might repeat any gesture but in general terms cross arms is defensive, not necessarily to hide, probably discomfort. Body language is in any case not exact science - one might be tired, having same physical problem a lot of other possible reasons might be the ones.
  3. Body language is learnt, everyday from everyone around us, actually, as we are growing up... basically, crossed arms mean that you are closing yourself off from someone, or just trying to hide how you really feel.. protecting yourself from perceived harm.
  4. it's bad to cross your arms. There is no appropriate time to do that, unless you're trying to pose for a goofy picture or something.
