  1. a non verbal is just that, one where you dont say anything.......for instance I would clap my hands loudly when the noise got above a dull roar.............saved my from shouting above them and plus shouting does not always work and puts you at a disadvantage...I also would use a whistle outside to get my classes attention as well when I had their attention from the hand clap would hold out both hands and make a sit motion, both hands in front holding them flat out and slowly lowering them..............takes a bit of time to have everyone learn what you want....but makes life easier all around, they knew if I ever raised my voice some one was in deep doo doo................
  2. I don't totally understand the question. Non verbal communciation is body language, tone of voice (its not what you say its how you say it), eye contact, a smile, a hug, crying, laughing. In English class if your trying to teach a class about non verbal communication, try a skit, have students work out a skit in which they convey something (make the rest of the class guess what it is they are trying to say) without using any words. Sorrow, pain, love, hunger, etc can all be expressed without using any words.
  3. Some studies have shown that 75% of the face to face communication we have is by para-linguistic means ... that is ... without words. The facial expressions, gestures, speed, eye contact, body positions, sentence and word stress, intonation, etc. Try having people carry on a conversation with only one word. How many different messages can be given bu using only one word, try /no/, /yes/, /you/, or even /buttermilk/ with different tones and volumes and expressions.
  4. What is non-verbal communication? Definition “nonverbal communication involves those nonverbal stimuli in a communication setting that are generated by both the source [speaker] and his or her use of the environment and that have potential message value for the source or receiver [listener]. Basically it is sending and receiving messages in a variety of ways without the use of verbal codes (words). It is both intentional and unintentional. Most speakers / listeners are not conscious of this. It includes — but is not limited to: touch glance eye contact (gaze) volume vocal nuance proximity gestures facial expression ? pause (silence) intonation dress posture smell word choice and syntax sounds (paralanguage) For more read link
  5. best use of nonverbal communication is the stare and also the stand. Staring at a student quietly, while listening to another student answer a question, is a good way to get the child who is interupting to get the "feel" that you know what he is doing and then they stop. The "stand" is good when you are reading aloud something and at the same time simply walk near and stand within proximity of the student who is disturbing the class by talking to someone else or whatever the case may be!
